In a radical decision, E-commerce start-up Dukaan laid off 90% of its customer support staff. Replacing them with an AI chatbot. The move led to a drastic reduction in customer support costs and resolution times. While the decision was tough, CEO Suumit Shah reiterated its necessity for the company’s financial health. This highlights the rising trend of AI integration in businesses to boost efficiency and reduce costs.

Transitioning over, Shutterstock is extending its partnership with OpenAI for the next 6 years. Shutterstock will provide OpenAI with training data for their AI models, including images, videos, music, and related information. In return, Shutterstock will receive early access to OpenAI’s latest technology and new editing features. This partnership signals a significant shift in the industry. Potentially countering the threat generative AI poses to traditional stock galleries. Switching gears to the legal world.

Google is now facing a lawsuit accusing the company of scraping user data without permission. and infringing copyright laws to enhance its AI products. This lawsuit, filed by the Clarkson law firm could redefine how tech giants utilize public data for AI training. Finally, Bill Gates has expressed optimism about managing AI risks. In his recent blog post, Gates pointed out that we managed similar challenges with past technologies and can do so with AI as well. His stance offers a counter-point to the often alarmist narratives around AI’s potential risks.
