The Coder's Catnip

Follow an aspiring developer's adventures in programming, data science, and machine learning. From early gaming communities to exploring new career paths, my fascination with coding eventually drew me back to computer science. Although programming seemed challenging at first, its creative possibilities continued to motivate me. Now, after returning to school, I'm fully embracing this journey. Join me as I chronicle my path as a lifelong learner – sharing, projects, mindset shifts, and resources that help me progress from student to coder. You'll find motivational highs, frustrating lows, and everything in between. My goal is to pass on tools, inspiration, and community to empower aspiring developers. Let's explore this endless world of coding together!

Human Resource Machine: The Perfect Puzzle Game to Boost Your Programming Skills!

Welcome to the tall office of Human Resource Machine! This unique game blends fun and learning, turning complicated programming concepts into easy to understand drag-and-drop pseudocode. This game, created by the minds behind hits like World of Goo and Little Inferno, invites you to automate your little office worker to solve puzzles, advancing you through your virtual career.

Get ready to have fun while expanding your mind. Human Resource Machine is more than a game – it’s a tool. It’s a teacher. It’s the perfect way to learn programming logic without getting bogged down in complex programming languages. This game does a wonderful job of stripping away the complex aspects of coding, leaving behind a simple, logical, and unique puzzle-solving experience. But if you’re already well-versed in programming, don’t worry, there are brain-stimulating challenges included that are well-suited for experienced programmers.

Play as an Office Drone

In Human Resource Machine, you play as an office drone, tasked with completing various tasks assigned by your boss. Your goal is to automate these tasks by moving items from your inbox to the outbox using simple drag-and-drop commands. Don’t worry if you’re not familiar with coding terminology or syntax – the game is designed to be accessible to beginners.

Each level presents a new challenge and it’s up to you to figure out the most efficient way to complete the task using the limited commands at your disposal. The game features a total of 11 commands, which can be combined to simulate complex algorithms. As you progress through the game, the puzzles become more advanced, requiring you to think creatively and utilize a good portion of programming concepts.

As I mentioned earlier, the game isn’t just for beginner programmers. The game also offers a cool spin on the challenges which prove more difficult depending on the level. These challenges are code speed and code length optimization. So, some solutions will not be able to solve both challenges at the same time so that means, more replayability!

Human Resource Machine offers a unique blend of fun and education. The graphics have a quirky Tim Burton-esque style, appealing to players of all ages. While the game itself doesn’t provide much assistance, hints and solutions can be found online. This makes it a great learning tool for both individual and group collaboration.

So whether you’re a coding enthusiast looking for a new challenge or a teacher searching for a supplemental tool for your programming class, Human Resource Machine has got you covered. Platforms that this game is on include Steam, GOG, the Humble Store, and Epic Games. Ordering directly from the developer ensures a higher percentage of proceeds goes to the creators and grants you a Steam key, along with cross-platform DRM-free versions. The game is also available on the Nintendo eShop for Wii U, Apple’s App Store for iPad and iPhone, and the Google Play Store for Android making it accessible to a broad audience.

Let your inner programmer shine and start your journey as an office drone in the fascinating world of Human Resource Machine. Happy coding! #CoderKittens
